  • Set up Communication Development training Centres at Partner Universities, to support excellent practice and deliver Patient Centred Communication Skills Programme locally

  • Create a Patient Centred Communication Skills Programme to be delivered in the clinical attachment years of medical students, to train them to communicate skilfully with patients by graduation and to reduce the negative impact on students practising with patients before a safe level of competency is achieved

  • Develop an assessment system for improving students’ performance and enhancing introduced innovative approaches

  • Transit from lecture-based teaching to innovative learning activities, such as blended and collaborative learning, use of interactive simulations in a fully integrated training regime

  • Combine the centres of excellence as a network, to stimulate curricula of partner and non-partner medical HEIs, to modernise and innovate, in accord with the latest trends in communication competency development.

Who will BENEFIT

    • Medical students will benefit from developed skills in building the structure of conversation with a patient, in resolving conflict situations, reducing return visits, encouraging self-care and conveying empathy. Enhanced communication skills will enable successful interaction with their patients and give a good prospect of their professional life. 
    • Academic staff will be able to refocus their teaching approaches and acquire contemporary pedagogic designs, approaches and methodology in communication skills training. 
    • Administrative staff of the Partner universities will ensure curriculum development by shifting from traditional lecture -based teaching to a wide range of innovative learning activities and use of interactive simulations in a fully integrated training regime.
    • Technical staff will obtain special skills to support digital learning environment and tools for delivering content of Patient-Centred Communication Skills Programme.
