Pre-conference master class “INTEGRATION OF FILLED CLASSROOM AND PATIENT-CENTERED LEARNING APPROACH: THE FOR21 EXPERIENCE”

Within the framework of the VI Central Asian International Scientific and Practical Conference on Medical Education “Education of the Future: Wind of Change” on April 19, 2023, on the basis of the Center for Simulation and Educational Technologies and Communication competences Development Center, representatives of the partners of the FOR21 Project held a master class “Integration of a flipped classroom and a patient-centered approach learning: FOR21 experience”. In order to disseminate the experience gained in the implementation of the development of communication skills among students in the master class, the following speakers spoke: Anastasia Rodina-Theocharaki, researcher, Ph.D. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Clinical/Laboratory Assistant of the Laboratory of Medical Physics and Digital Innovations of the Faculty of Medicine of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (Greece) with the report “Inverted Class”, Bagiyarova Fatima researcher of the FOR21 project of KazNMU (Almaty, Kazakhstan) with the report “Information on the creation and adaptation video for the Virtual Patient”, Madaliyeva Sanam researcher of the FOR21 project of KazNMU (Almaty, Kazakhstan) with the report “Qualitative analysis of the results of feedback from students participating in the Erasmus + FOR21 project” and Babamuradova Zarrina, researcher of the FOR21 project, directos of the communication Competencies development Center od the Samarkand State Medical University with the report “Education of a doctor of the 21st century: teaching patient-oriented communication. Experience of the Tashkent Medical Academy and Samarkand State Medical University”.

The moderators of the master class were Larissa Matsiyevskaya, researcher of the FOR21 project, associate professor of the Department of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Rehabilitation of NAO MUK and Dinara Aimbetova, Chief Specialist of the Center for Simulation and Educational Technologies of NAO MUK, and Tsai Natalya, specialist and co-manager of the FOR21 project, Faculty of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).

Khalmuradova Symbat, tutor of the FOR21 project, trainer of practical skills of the Center for Simulation and Educational Technologies of the NAO MUK, clearly demonstrated the conduct of a practical lesson with students using virtual patient cases and the Flipped Classroom methodology. The master class was held online and offline, offline teachers of NJSC Semey Medical University and NJSC «Karaganda Medical University» attended, more than 30 participants from the countries of the FOR21 Consortium, as well as teachers from medical universities in Kazakhstan attended online. The master class presented the experience of implementing the FOR21 Project and discussed the advantages and difficulties in teaching and developing clinical cases, teachers from other universities showed great interest in this teaching methodology.
